Fill in what you can. Plans help us price it accurately, but they're not essential. We'll come back to you with a fixed quote.
Beam & block, explained.
Where it works, what it costs, and what Building Control will ask for.
Good questions.
What is a beam and block floor?
Precast prestressed concrete beams span between the walls, and concrete blocks are laid between them. The joints are grouted, then insulation and a screed or boarded finish go on top. It's fast, strong and needs no shuttering or curing time.
Do I need structural calculations?
Usually, yes. Building Control will normally want to see the beam layout and calculations showing the floor can take its loads. We include both with your floor.
What information do you need to quote?
Plans or a dimensioned sketch showing the internal wall layout, plus the site postcode. If you don't have drawings yet, call us and we'll talk it through.
Can you do upper floors as well as ground floors?
Yes. Beam and block works for suspended ground floors and for upper floors, including garages with rooms above.
Do you install the floor?
We design and supply the floor and deliver it to site. Your groundworker or builder lays it, and the drawings show them exactly where everything goes.
How do deliveries work?
Beams are made to length and delivered with the blocks, usually in a single drop. Crane offload is available. Let us know about any access restrictions when you enquire.
